What GEO and AEO mean
Generative engine optimization (GEO) helps your brand appear in answers written by AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. Answer engine optimization (AEO) helps your content get pulled into direct answers, such as featured snippets and voice results.
Both rest on the same foundation as good SEO: pages that can be crawled, content that answers real questions and clear signals about who you are. Google has said that its AI features draw on the same core systems as Search, so there is no secret markup. The work is doing the fundamentals more precisely, with AI readers in mind.
Content written to be quoted
AI systems tend to pull short, self-contained passages that answer a question directly. We structure your pages so the best answer is easy to find and lift.
- Each section opens with a one- or two-sentence direct answer, then supporting detail
- Headings phrased the way buyers ask questions
- Real FAQs with specific, answer-first replies
- Clear facts: prices you are willing to publish, service areas, hours, specs and policies
- Comparisons and how-to guides that show genuine expertise
We write for people first. Content that helps a buyer decide is also the content AI tools find most useful to cite.
Structured data and llms.txt
Structured data, also called schema markup, labels the facts on your pages in a format machines read reliably. We add it where it reflects what visitors can actually see.
Depending on your business, that includes Organization or LocalBusiness, Service, Product, FAQPage, Article and BreadcrumbList. For a D2C coffee brand, we implemented Product, FAQ, LocalBusiness and Breadcrumb schema across a roughly 40-page content build.
We can also publish an llms.txt file, a plain-text guide that points AI tools to your most important pages. It is an emerging proposal, and major AI providers have not confirmed they rely on it. We treat it as a low-cost addition, never a replacement for well-structured pages. We also check that your robots.txt does not accidentally block the search crawlers that AI assistants use.
Entity clarity: making sure AI knows who you are
AI tools build a picture of your business from many sources. If those sources disagree, the picture gets blurry and you are less likely to be recommended.
We make your core facts consistent everywhere they appear: business name, address or service area, phone, services, founders and key people. We connect your website to your official profiles with Organization schema and sameAs links, tidy your Google Business Profile and major listings, and make your About page clear and specific. We also make sure your site is indexed in both Google and Bing, since different AI assistants draw on different search indexes.
Measuring AI visibility honestly
AI answers vary from person to person and day to day, so no single check tells the full story. We measure trends over time instead of chasing one screenshot.
We run a fixed set of buyer-style prompts across major AI tools on a regular schedule and record whether your brand appears and how it is described. In GA4, we separate referral visits from AI assistants so you can see the traffic and leads they send. Our marketing analytics team builds these reports into your dashboard. Nobody can promise that an AI tool will cite you. We can make you a clearer, more credible source to cite.
