What is pipeline per dollar?
Pipeline per dollar is the value of qualified opportunities created in your CRM divided by the marketing spend that produced them. It shows whether marketing is feeding sales, long before deals close.
Here is a hypothetical example. Say you spend $6,000 in a quarter and marketing sources ten qualified opportunities worth $180,000 in total. Your pipeline per dollar is $30. If your sales team usually wins one in four deals of that size, you can estimate the revenue to expect and decide whether to spend more. Try your own numbers in the pipeline simulator.
Why do B2B companies struggle to measure marketing?
Most ad platforms only see the form fill. The real result, a signed deal, happens later in a sales meeting, an email thread or a purchase order. Without a link between the two, marketing gets judged on lead volume alone.
We fix that by storing the source of every lead on the contact and the deal in your CRM. When a deal moves to qualified or closed, that event can be sent back to Google Ads, Meta and LinkedIn so they learn which clicks turn into revenue. Our article on CRM attribution for B2B covers the setup step by step.
How do you market industrial and wholesale suppliers?
Industrial and wholesale buyers search for specific parts, specs and capabilities. They want answers fast and a quote path that does not waste their time.
- Product and capability pages written around the terms buyers actually search
- Google Ads focused on high-intent part and service searches
- LinkedIn company-page content aimed at purchasing managers and engineers
- Quote forms that capture the details your estimators need
- Separate workflows for distributor, dealer and retail-partner leads
Partner leads need their own path so the partner gets credit and the customer gets a fast reply.
What have we done for B2B buyers?
Our team has run a LinkedIn company-page program aimed at commercial buyers for a Houston-area electrical and generator company. We also built a retailer-partner lead workflow that routes partner referrals into the CRM with source tags and duplicate checks.
On the engineering side, we build CRM pipelines, lead routing and reporting with tools such as GoHighLevel, Zapier and Looker Studio. See CRM development and revenue operations for the details.
What does reporting look like?
Reports show pipeline created, pipeline per dollar and deals won by source, every month. Lead counts still appear, but they no longer drive decisions on their own.
We also add a simple self-reported question to key forms: how did you hear about us? It often surfaces podcasts, referrals and trade shows that click tracking never sees.
